Kvadrat Danish textiles

Kvadrat is a Danish textile company that has so many amazing options for color, pattern and texture. I would love to share them below, however you can not save their fabric patterns off of their site. They offer upholstery, curtains and wall coverings. I had to search around on the web to find pieces covered in their fabrics in order to share some images . They have linked up with Maharam in Manhattan to have a more global presence.

Love- Nordal

Wow, I am in love with this Danish interiors company. I could easily furnish my entire home with their products. Go to Nordal's site to learn more. They have a gorgeous table in this month's Living Ect. , which is what put me on their site.

On another rainy day here in New York, I am wishing for spring. Here are some summer homes that I would love to sit outside of instead right now.

Lighting Fixtures

There is nothing that can completely replace that hyggelig feeling that candles will give to a space, but sometimes you need some overhead lighting or some lamps. Here are some of my favorites including a picture of the Caravaggio pendants we installed in our new apartment this year by Cecilie manz. Most of these are of simple modern designs, but their effect are anything but.

Bedding, Lexington Co.

Our dog is teething and has decided to take out her oral pain on our sheets. I have been looking around at some new bedding for when this phase is over and we can replace our current set. While looking, I stumbled upon Lexington Co, based in Stockholm.  I love their soft color palette for the spring and summer. You can order their bedding off this site Occa Home.

I love this time of the month; all of the new issues of my favorite design magazines come out. I picked up "Living Etc"  at lunch and stumbled across "Rice" a Danish home shop. Here are a few of their products.

Black & Grey Living rooms

Via Decorology
At work today, I was working with an American designer and her Danish client. They were designing an all black and grey living room with a clean modern look. The client discussed how Danish design was about either form or color; that the focus had to be on one or the other, but not both.  It inspired me to look around on the web at other black and grey Scandinavian spaces.

Window treatments

The window treatments in my bedroom
Light is very important in Scandinavia since half of the year will leave you in the dark for most of the day. Keeping the windows open and letting natural light in is expected, however simple light colored window treatments are still used in some homes. I have learned from both my childhood and my mother to appreciate the daytime light. I enjoy waking up in the morning to the sun, so I have chosen light colored linen curtains to let the light in versus a black out shade.

I am going to be an Aunt again soon. It got me thinking about what types of products are out there for babies in Scandinavia with a more sustainable message. Hevea makes bath toys, pacifiers and teethers, with a strong sustainable message. Svan of Sweden also uses some recycled products or eco-friendly materials in their furniture for babies and toddlers.

Play Type - Copenhagen

Playtype,  the concept store is located in Copenhagen and features these pieces adapted from their type. For a company who designs type these are some pretty cool products.

Framing Project complete

Using my inspiration from this photo, I reframed my photos in these custom frames. The original frames were meant as a quick fix after I had my photos blown up. This quick fix ended up on my wall for three years, instead of the short term time I had in mind.

The Black and white inspiration.
