I was working with a customer yesterday who was looking to furnish her living room starting from scratch. She said that her style was modern, when I asked about her design style. Modern can mean so many things to different people so after a few more questions, I learn she wanted clean lines, a neutral pattern, but mostly she wanted to make sure it was cozy.
When some people think of the word modern, they think it means minimal, cold, clean lines and hospital like only. Yes, those words can describe a modern space, but you can have a modern space and still have it feel hygge. Here are some examples of Scandinavian modern homes, that do not lack for warmth. A few things that warm up a space are textured pillows, plants, candles, art, or showcasing something you collect.
